On Thursday night, the 8th grade boys basketball team went on the road to play against the Blue team from the North. From the opening tip, the Huskies brought defensive pressure and some hot shooting. The Huskies jumped out to a 17 - 7 lead after the first quarter. The effort on defense continued into the second quarter as the Dawgs held the Devils to only 6 points giving them a commanding lead of 30 - 13 at halftime. The Dawgs dominated the third quarter with strong defense and outscored the Devils 17 - 3 in the period. The Huskies had a dominating 47 - 16 lead going into the fourth quarter. All 14 players contributed to the dominant win over our arch rival in the Hickory Classic. The Huskies were led offensively by Nolan Kakasuleff & Vince Kakasuleff. Cooper Ballenger chipped in with two three point bombs. Grayson Pickering & Drew Champion played some strong defense helping shut down the opposing team's best players. The Dawgs played with tremendous effort and energy. It was an awesome win to end the regular season. The Huskies will begin Championship week with a matchup versus HSE in the opening round of the County Tournament @ Riverside Middle School on Monday @ 6:45.
